Food
Our page for all things food-related, back
for a cliché-friendly second helping.
The Jasmin Garden
Having already sampled a considerable portion
of the Jasmin Garden’s takeaway menu, I thought it only proper
to drag the other half down to taste the restaurant menu and discover
an alternative to leaving the comfort of the sitting room and Friday
night telly. On first impressions the Jasmin looks a bit like a
local café decorated with the obligatory red and gold, and
what no Chinese would be complete without; a back-lit picture, unfortunately
this was minus an actual flowing waterfall feature. The menu offers
something for everyone, there are set menus to cover those wishing
to sample a range of dishes and then there is the full menu for
your consideration. The wine list is comprehensive and worth perusing.
The food was well worth braving the cold evening for. The dishes
were full of flavour and the service good. The Jasmin is probably
the best Chinese in Falmouth, perfect for a cosy meal for two or
a large party dinner.

Feeling Lost?
Cornwall’s road signs have long been criticised
as it seems that no matter how far you travel, the target seems
to be further away. Roads seemingly lead to nowhere, lined with
hedges too high for even the largest 4 x4 to peer over. These shouldn’t
however put anyone trying to thread their way through the maze of
misleading directions to find Mylor Harbour. For there lies one
of the finest restaurants in the South West Situated on the harbour
itself, Castaways is one of the few places where the whole eating
experience is a joy. From their near perfect Guinness to their gorgeous
burgers, everything is how it should be. It’s not just the
food that sets the tone, the surroundings couldn’t be better.
With beautiful views, the open, airy and stylish restaurant lets
the diners within enjoy their food at their own pace. To top it
all of, the restaurant has a fine selection of ice creams to enjoy
and even to take with you if you fancy sitting outside and watching
the world go by.

The Shed
Cool. Cool is most definitely the word you are
looking for in the case of this little fancy fest. I am of course
talking about ‘The Shed’ in Falmouth, a place so hip
it hurts, well, your wallet at least. The food is fab, the bar serves
great cocktails - with a trick or two thrown in and the decor is
cuttingly kitsch. The perfect hide out to drain any funds that should
really remain plugged, but hey, what’s that clichéd
saying...? Oh yes, you only live once!
